As part of national Anti-Bullying Week (12 – 16 November 2018), our #UoSrespect campaign is promoting how we can all demonstrate respectful behaviours.
By being mindful of how we as individuals choose to take responsibility for our own actions, both staff and students can put respect at the heart of our University community.
For staff: Embedding Collegiality
Staff can find out more about how they can embed collegiality (one of our University’s core principles) into everything they do, using a range of tools on the Embedding Collegiality webpage.
Our Student Charter
Jointly developed by the University and Students’ Union, the Student Charter sets out our expectations, rights and responsibilities as members of the University Community, including how we treat each other with respect.
Information for staff and students
Personal Leadership involves:
- Taking ownership for what we do and the impact it has
- Treating others with dignity and respect and supporting them
- Asking for feedback about our behaviours and learning from this feedback
- Thinking about the impact of our actions before we act
- Showing pride, passion and enthusiasm for our diverse University community.
Working Together involves:
- Actively trying to see things from others’ perspectives
- Listening to others with respect and valuing their opinions
- Looking for opportunities to improve the way we interact with others
- Recognising that everybody has something to contribute to our University community
- Reflecting on situations where relationships have deteriorated and working to rebuild them
- Take ownership for your actions and looking for ways to show respect to those around you – not just today, but every day.
