Students, staff and members of the local community are invited to join a festive event about clean air next month, featuring contributions from leading University researchers.
This joint University and Students’ Union event will be held on Wednesday 12 December between 14:00 – 16:00. Researchers from across our University will come together to discuss the history of air pollution, its current effects on our health and how technology is developing to better record and monitor air quality in the future.
Air pollution is associated with 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year and Southampton is one of a number of cities taking steps to improve air quality. A recent public consultation on a Clean Air Zone in the city generated more than 8,000 contributions, highlighting a huge interest in the subject.
This accessible event is open to all and no prior knowledge of the subject is required. Festive refreshments will also be provided.
