Staff who are eligible for settled status in the UK have until Friday 21 December to submit their application as part of the pilot EU Settlement Scheme.

Participation in this scheme is entirely voluntary at this stage, however successful applications will not need to submit a new application when the scheme rolls out nationally in March 2019.

You can view the EU Settlement Scheme seminar which was delivered by an immigration lawyer on Monday 17 December here.

You can find further information about the pilot scheme, the University’s reimbursement for the scheme and how to apply on our HR website.

The University will reimburse the cost of applications for settled status (£65) for eligible employees who make an application under this scheme. This provision will be available to all employees who are working for the University on or before 29 March 2019, whether they make an application as part of this pilot phase, or as part of the full EU Settlement Scheme when it is launched.

Participation in the EU settlement scheme requires applicants to have access to an Android device with near field communication (NFC) capability to use the government ID checking app. We know that many of our EU staff do not have access to a suitable Android device, so we have arranged for compatible mobile phones to be available for staff to use.

If you need to use this facility, the mobile phones are located in Human Resources Reception, Building 26, Highfield Campus, 09:00 16:30 Tuesday to Thursday and 09:00 12:00 Friday. No appointment is necessary. Please be aware that the HR Reception staff are unable to answer questions about your particular immigration status, you should refer to the Home Office for more information.

Full terms and conditions and information on applying for the fee reimbursement can be accessed on our HR pages.

EU staff are encouraged  to join the EU/EEA Staff Support Network. To do so, please contact Bruno Linclau: [email protected].
