Congratulations to Professor Timothy Leighton from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, who has been made a Doctor of Science by the University of Cambridge.
A Doctor of Science is the highest degree in science that a university can award, and Cambridge awards no more than around ten a year. The award is made after a university decides to assess the quality and impact on the scientific agenda of the lifetime collection of journal papers published by a person who previously took a degree at that university.
Timothy Leighton is the founding Chairman of both the University Strategic Research Group Network for Anti-Microbial Resistance and Infection Prevention (NAMRIP), and the Health Effects of Ultrasound in Air (HEFUA) group. He is also Professor of Ultrasonics and Underwater Acoustics at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at our University.
He has invented numerous devices for healthcare, catastrophe relief and industry (for further information visit Bubble acoustics). He is also Inventor-in-Chief for Sloan Water Technology Ltd., a UK company with premises at Chilworth, Hampshire.
