Electric vehicle charging now being piloted across our campuses

As part of our commitment to improving sustainability across our campuses, we are pleased to announce that electric vehicle charging points are now available on Highfield, Boldrewood, Avenue and Winchester campuses.

The charging points have been supplied by Joju Solar through Hampshire County Council’s electric vehicle scheme, so they are similar to others that you may have seen installed across the county.

The current sites for the charging points are available to view on the attached document.

The points include the option for ad-hoc charging (with a QR code which will be added to the chargers within the next few days) for those who have never used a NewMotion charge point before, or you can apply for a charge card via the NewMotion website. Charging sessions cost a flat rate of 20p per KwH.

We’re committed to reducing the impact of travel to and from our campuses, including providing better cycling facilities, improving our award-winning Unilink bus service and incentivising car sharing to reduce single-occupancy journeys. You can find out more about travel around Southampton on our transport website.

If you experience any issues using the new charging points, please contact the Parking team at: [email protected].
