Legal Services respond to increased demand

The University community will be aware that the external compliance and regulatory world facing universities is increasingly exacting and that our environment generally is more demanding of legal resources.

Ian Dunn, Chief Operating Officer stated,

“I am delighted that we are able to respond to the increasing demand and complex needs being asked of our Legal Services colleagues through restructuring and enhancing the team.

“This will mean that Barbara Halliday will move into a new role as General Counsel and University Secretary focussing on strategic demands and governance issues. We will recruit a new Director of Legal Services to lead the team in our day-to-day activity.

“In addition, a new procurement/commercial solicitor will be recruited and our data protection paralegal will be replaced. By restructuring in this way, Legal Services will have named contacts who will agree priorities and be able to better support our stakeholders.”

Recruitment advertisements for these roles will be published shortly.
