Winchester School of Art is pleased to announce a new short evening course, Alt/Explorations in Art History. The course is starting this February and is running for 10 weeks.
Art history is a fascinating reflection of the way in which culture and societies have developed throughout time. In this course, members will explore a range of artists and art movements – including those that have been less discussed in history. This will enable students to gain skills of visual analysis and understanding of the ideas and motivation behind the artworks.
Students will also study Surrealism, including the female artists that generated their own style, looking at 20th Century ground-breaking artists such as Frida Kahlo and see how Kahlo’s work continues to influence cultural developments and female representation in art. The accompanying practical sessions will enable students to gain practical insights into some of the working methodologies of the artists and art movements explored.
Bookings for this course are now live and can be made here.
