Be in your colleague’s corner on Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day on 7 February is an opportunity for everyone to have a conversation about mental health.

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem and nine in 10 say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result. Mental health affects us all and we should feel able to talk about it.

This Time to Talk Day on 7 February, please join Health and Wellbeing for tea, biscuits and a chat at the Occupational Health, 31 University Road, Highfield Campus between 12:0014:00. (Please bring your own mug/cup!)

As well as this, Southampton County Council are also holding a event on Level 1 of Westquay Shopping Centre at 12:00. Come along for the opportunity to get advice and information from local organisations including Solent Mind, No Limits, Samaritans and Southampton Voluntary Services.

The Faith and Reflection Centre are also holding their regular soup lunch with a ‘Time to Talk’ focus. This is running from 12:3013:30.

See the video below for tips on how to support a colleague with their mental health.

Our University has been part of the Time to Change Employer Pledge and has supported Time to Talk Day since 2014. This is part of the holistic approach to mental wellbeing support, recognising the wide breadth of mental and physical health benefits available to staff and students.
