Professor Lucy Mazdon, Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is to leave the University at the end of June to take up the role of Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education at the University of Hull.
Lucy has been at the University since 1993, where she completed a three year PhD. She then went on to start her academic career as a Research Fellow. Lucy became Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise) for the Faculty of Humanities in February 2018 and was appointed as the Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise) for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in August of the same year.
Professor Paul Whittaker, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Lucy and one I am sure she will excel at. Lucy has been a long-standing and valued colleague here in the Faculty and University since she started her career here as a Research Fellow in 1996. She will be greatly missed by many colleagues and students.”
Reflecting on her time at the University, Lucy said:
“I have hugely enjoyed my many years at Southampton, helping to develop Film Studies and working alongside so many wonderful colleagues. The decision to leave was very tough but as my twins are about to embark on their own university adventures, it seemed the right moment for me to also take on a new challenge.”
Plans for a new Associate Dean (Research) will be announced in the next few weeks.
