UK Research Office Visit: EU Horizon 2020 research funding

On Monday 4 March, the University will host two information sessions run by UK Research Office (UKRO) advisor, Andreas Kontogeorgos. UKRO is the Research Councils Office in Brussels and supports UK higher education institutions in accessing European funding.

The sessions will provide an ideal opportunity to get an update on the latest developments in Europe and will be of interest to anyone involved in, or applying for, European research funding. You can find information on each session below.snap

Brexit and the implications for Horizon 2020 research

10.30 13.00 Senate Room (Building 37 / 4049)

This session will comprise of two parts. Attendees are welcome to attend either one or both parts:

  • 10:30 11.30: Overview of the current Brexit situation and the implications for UK participation in Horizon 2020. This will include a Q&A session where attendees will be able to ask questions covering all aspects of Brexit and H2020 research funding.
  • 12:00 13.00: Research and networking opportunities available to UK parties post-Brexit.

How to apply successfully for Horizon 2020 funding

14.00 15.30 Senate Room (Building 37 / 4049)

Whatever happens with Brexit negotiations, UK parties will still be able to apply for and participate in H2020 collaborative research. This session will include:

  • Things to consider before writing the bid; how to find all the relevant information, documents and guidance.
  • Consortium building and finding partners.
  • Writing the bid: tips, guidance, common mistakes, and what the EU are looking for.
