On the library’s academic skills website, in addition to the Assignment Planner, there is now a Dissertation Planner. This is a step-by-step guide to help you write a dissertation, from starting to think about your question, through to final submission. At each stage you will find useful tips and support and you can save your work and return to the planner at any time.

Throughout February and March, undergraduate students are invited to attend a series of ‘Writing the Dissertation’ workshops. This series will help you to break the dissertation down into digestible portions, guiding you through the various chapters or sections. The sessions are as follows:

  • The Literature Review
  • The Methods or Methodology
  • The Results and Discussion
  • The Introduction and Conclusion

For more information and to book please go visit the Dissertation training and workshops page.

The Library has also secured an upgrade to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDT). This new access to PQDT will give you full text access to over four million inter-disciplinary dissertations and theses from across the globe.

To access this resource, go to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDT) and click ‘login’ (make sure that you are using Southampton Virtual Environment if you are off campus).

If you have any questions or would like to provide feedback, please email [email protected].
