Dear colleagues
On 31 January the Chair of Council, Philip Greenish informed us that that Professor Mark Spearing, our current Vice-President (Research and Enterprise), will act as interim President and Vice-Chancellor for the period between Sir Christopher Snowden’s departure and the arrival of his successor, with effect from 9 March.
Yesterday, I reported to Senate that good progress is being made with the search to find our next President and Vice-Chancellor. Odgers Berndtson (our executive recruitment partner) has received a positive response to the search, resulting in a good number of very high-quality applications. Our Joint Selection Committee (JSC) met and agreed a list of candidates to progress to the next stage, of which a third are women.
The candidates are being interviewed by Odgers Berndtson and a report will be provided to the JSC so that a shortlist can be agreed. The final interviews and selection process will take place in March.
We are hoping to be in a position to confirm the appointment of our next President and Vice-Chancellor during April 2019.
You can find further information on the recruitment process, including a timeline, on our dedicated website.
Kind regards
Mandy
