Startup expert Ben Clark has been announced as the new Director of Future Worlds, the on-campus accelerator.
The University of Southampton alumnus, whose leadership experience includes spells at several tech startups and spinouts, replaces accelerator founder Reuben Wilcock who will now support the network as its latest mentor.
Future Worlds inspires staff and students through engaging events, workshops and talks and helps accelerate the development of ideas into successful startups through space, access to funding, and a network of mentors that includes millionaire investors, startup founders and industry experts.
“I have always resonated with Future Worlds’ vision and am honoured to have been selected as its new director,” Ben says. “We have a great opportunity here for Future Worlds to propel Southampton towards becoming a global powerhouse for tech startups. There are so many more success stories to come, which will have a lasting impact on the University, the city and the world.”
Future Worlds is based in Building 1 on Highfield Campus, within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and offers its support to all aspiring University entrepreneurs.
Professor Ian Williams, Associate Dean Enterprise, Engineering and Physical Sciences, says:
“I would like to congratulate Ben on his appointment to this dynamic and growing initiative. He enters the role with a background of converting great ideas into high growth businesses and is exceptionally well placed to build on the accelerator’s impressive track record.”
