Professor Daniel Whiting, Head of Philosophy, has secured a grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council in support of an international network on the theme of Higher-Order Evidence in Epistemology, Ethics, and Aesthetics.

The core members of the network are Jon Robson (Nottingham), Elinor Mason (Edinburgh), and Weiping Zheng (Xiamen).
The group will bring together researchers across Europe, North America and China to explore the ways in which we should take account of or respond to evidence of our own fallibility (such as implicit bias) in our deliberations, for example when making hiring decisions.
The award of approximately £45K will support a series of workshops in which network members will explore the themes of the project. Additionally, an event will be organised to engage regional business leaders.
The planned outcomes of these workshops include an edited volume of essays by network members and a Chinese-language study guide to the issues the network will explore.
