Preparing for potential of a no deal Brexit – a message from Ian Dunn

Dear staff and students,

As many of you will know, the UK is due to leave the European Union (EU) at 23:00 on Friday 29 March 2019.

Given that the UK Government has not yet secured an agreed deal for the nation’s withdrawal from the EU, I wanted to reassure you that preparations are underway to minimise the impact a potential ‘no deal’ Brexit could have upon the University – our students and staff – as much as possible.

I have established an extensive internal advisory group, with representation from across our University. Currently, the group is creating an overarching risk register that will prioritise more clearly the areas of greatest risk, with mitigating actions being discussed and agreed.

Should the UK Government secure an agreed deal for the nation’s withdrawal from the EU before the 29 March deadline, the advisory group will be disbanded.

I will keep staff and students updated as needed.

Ian Dunn
