Last week, you’ll remember that we put a call out for our staff and students to send in their own poetry ahead of World Poetry Day.
Well, today’s the day, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our community. We received a range of beautiful, eclectic and personal poems from both students and staff members.
We’ve collated a selection of the entries on a Sway site, feel free to have a browse and enjoy the creativity of our community.
If you’re interested in poetry and would like to attend events, we have a few suggestions for places to start:
- Entropics, which is run by our English department, is back this month with an event on 28 March at the John Hansard Gallery.
- Poetry sessions at the John Hansard Gallery begin again on 11 April.
- Celebrating the way health and wellbeing can be transformed through art, Umbrella Arts Festival takes place this Saturday 23 March at the City Nuffield Theatre.
- Our Arts department has a great blog which often includes resources related to writing and poetry, as well as other artistic events and activites.
