Looking after ourselves and each other: Mental Health Awareness Week

Our community is invited to get involved with the range of activities taking place for Mental Health Awareness Week, starting today (13 May to 19 May).

Though the awareness week only runs for seven days, we’d like our staff and students to know that there is always support available all year round. Find out more about support services below.

Our Chancellor on mental health

We caught up in this video with our new Chancellor, Ruby Wax, who is well-known as a major advocate of mental health:

Wellfest

This Wednesday 15 May, students and staff are invited to Wellfest, a celebration of health and wellbeing, taking place from 10:00 to 16:00 in Garden Court, (B40) Highfield Campus. There’s lots happening throughout the day including: mindfulness taster sessions, mini-massages, managing exam anxiety workshop, meet a therapy dog, free vegan food and mocktails, and much more. Sign up to workshops

If you have any questions about Wellfest or wellbeing support, please call Enabling Services on 023 8059 7726 or email: [email protected].

Supporting you this exam/deadline season

The Students’ Union (SUSU) is running events for their ‘You Are More Than” campaign throughout May. Students can find more information about these events on the SUSU calendar. To help students stay zen this exam/deadline season, the Student Communications Team has been sharing information about events and support using #ExamZen2019 on SUSSED and Facebook.

Services are here for you

If you’re worried or are struggling with something, it can help to talk to someone about what you are going through. If you’re a student, you can find out who you can talk to if you need support with your mental health and wellbeing.

There is also lots of information, support and self-help available on our Health and Wellbeing sharepoint site alongside leaflets which are available for staff and students to download.
