We’re running 24 hours of events in June to celebrate biodiversity on and around our campuses.
Join us for ecology seminars, bat walks, a midnight moth capturing session, a breaking dawn birdsong chorus stroll and this year’s main BioBlitz survey.
These free events will run from 19:00 on Friday 7 June until 19:00 Saturday 8 June. All of the sessions are open to students, staff, families and members of the community, but numbers are limited.

A BioBlitz is a race against the clock to find and record as many animals and plants as possible. You’ll work as a team and be allocated a plot on Highfield Campus or on Southampton Common. Not an expert? Don’t worry. Staff from Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre will be on hand to help. Everything you find will be documented by them, as well as by the National Biodiversity Network.
These events have been supported by our Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences, in partnership with Southampton City Council and Southampton Common Forum.
If you have any questions about any of the sessions, or want to sign up as a volunteer, please email [email protected]
