‘Feeling Good About Feeding Babies’: launch of new website

Our University has launched a new website today to help parents, family members, friends and health professionals to have better conversations about how we feed our babies.

The Feeling Good About Feeding Babies website is an ESRC funded collaboration between researchers at the Universities of Southampton and Cardiff, parent support organisations such as the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) and the Breastfeeding Network.

Whether breastfeeding directly or feeding expressed breastmilk or infant formula in a bottle or tube, feeding babies can often be a joyful and satisfying experience. But things don’t always feel so good and many women suffer from shame, guilt and embarrassment surrounding decisions about how they feed their babies.

The website offers support to mothers and contains stories from parents about their feelings about feeding their babies and research from Fiona Woollard, Professor of Philosophy and Dr Heather Trickey (DECIPHer, Cardiff).

Users commented that the best thing about the website was finally feeling understood.
