The UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme fully opened at the end of March 2019, with an online application process that is designed to be quick and easy.
If you are an EU citizen (or a direct family member) with a valid biometric passport, you and your family are able to apply for either settled or pre-settled status, with a deadline for applications of 30 June 2021. It is also open to non-EU family members who have a valid biometric residence card.
On Monday 21 January 2019 the UK Government announced that it would waive the £65 application fee (£32.50 for children under 16) for pre-settled/settled status when the Scheme was fully rolled out in March. Those who applied during the test phases will, in due course, have their fee reimbursed directly by the Home Office.
Participation in the EU settlement scheme requires applicants to have access to an electronic device with near field communication (NFC) capability to use the government ID checking app. We know that many of our EU staff do not have access to a suitable device, so we have arranged for compatible phones to be available for staff to use.
If you need to use this facility, please make an appointment by calling extension 22421 (023 8059 2421). The devices are located in the Human Resources Reception, Building 26, Highfield Campus, 09:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday. You will also need to bring your own mobile as this is required as part of the application process.
More information about the scheme can be can be accessed on our HR pages.
