Annual pay negotiations are held between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA), which represents the 145 Higher Education employers participating in this year’s pay negotiations, and the five sector trade unions. These include UCU, UNISON and Unite, who represent staff here at Southampton.
Our University supports the annual pay negotiations and is keen to see a fair and sustainable pay uplift agreed between these groups.
The latest on this year’s negotiations:
- UCEA has made a final pay offer which provides for increases of at least 1.8 per cent on salaries.
- The offer also includes increases of up to 3.65 per cent on the lowest spinal points, where it is acknowledged that cost of living pressures are most keenly felt.
- All five trade unions are now in the process of seeking their members’ views on the final offer, with this process expected to continue until early July.
You can view full details of the final offer on the UCEA website.
Our University supplements pay on our lowest spinal points to align with the Living Wage, and the majority of our Level 1-6 staff are entitled to incremental pay progression in August, in addition to the outcomes of this year’s pay negotiations.
In the context of financial constraints and uncertainties across the sector, our University is committed to maintaining fair and affordable investment in our staff and is determined to continue providing equitable pay and benefits as part of an attractive and competitive total reward package.
