We’re proud to announce that our University is an official sponsor of Southampton Pride 2019!
Southampton Pride takes place on Saturday 24 August at Guildhall Square in Southampton City Centre.
This is a free annual event with all proceeds going to local charities. With a great line up of acts, activities and community events, there is something for everyone.
Our President and Vice-Chancellor (Interim) Professor Mark Spearing commented:
“Following our recent recognition of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB) here at Southampton and also in this year marking the 50th anniversary of the initial Stonewall movement for progressing equal rights, I am delighted that the University is sponsoring Southampton Pride 2019. We continue to embrace and celebrate the rich diversity of our University and now have an opportunity to do so across our wider community at this key event.”

“It is with great excitement that I can announce on behalf of the Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network that the University of Southampton is an official sponsor of Southampton Pride 2019! This has come with enthusiastic support from Vice-chancellor Professor Mark Spearing demonstrating the University’s commitment to the LGBT+ community in Southampton and the wider area.”
