University to partner with Natasha Allergy Research Foundation

Our University is collaborating with the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation (NARF) as part of its plans to create a dedicated global allergen research hub.

The Foundation was launched today on ITV’s This Morning by Tanya and Nadim Ednan-Laperouse, whose 15-year-old daughter Natasha died from a severe allergic reaction in 2016 after she ate a baguette that contained sesame seeds.

Following the launch, we’re working in partnership with the Foundation with a view to expanding our research, which could offer hope for effective allergy treatments.

Professor Stephen Holgate, Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology at our University, will also become a NARF ambassador.

Professor Mark Spearing, President and Vice-Chancellor (Interim), said:

“The University is looking forward to working in partnership with the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.

“The Foundation has exciting plans to develop a leading global allergy research hub and the University, as a recognised World Allergy Organisation centre of excellence, will offer support and expertise to help deliver the Foundation’s long term aspiration to improve the lives of allergy sufferers.”
