Welcome from the Student Communications Team to all of our Pre-sessional students joining us – we hope you enjoy your time with us! You can find information below to help you make the most of your first few weeks.
What to do when you arrive
Attend an induction
You will need to attend an induction as you will find out important information about your course. This will help you to settle in and prepare for your studies. It is also a great opportunity to meet other students. For dates, times and more information about induction, visit the Welcome webpages.
Open a bank account
You will need a UK bank account to set up a Direct Debit so that you can pay your university fees. Find out more on our Welcome webpages. Remember not to take large amounts of cash with you while you’re out travelling. Try to put your money into a bank account as early as you can.
Learn how to find your way around our campuses and the city
To help find your way round Highfield and Avenue, use the Campus Maps feature in the MySouthampton app, or, you can download a PDF map of Highfield or Avenue.
To get a bus, check the route number and final destination displayed on the front of the bus. Raise your arm and put out your hand as a signal to the driver that you would like to take that bus. Stay safe and be careful not to reach your arm out beyond the pavement. You can always check where the bus is going with the driver if you’re not sure.
