Results of 2019 National Student Survey (NSS) shows increase in student satisfaction

The results of the 2019 National Student Survey (NSS), published today (Wednesday 3 July), show that our institutional overall satisfaction score of 84.71% is up compared to last year. As part of this overall improvement students reported higher levels of satisfaction in 17 out of the 27 areas covered in the survey.

Alex Neill, Vice-President Education said:

“This is great news, and evidence of how effective the efforts of all our staff have been in delivering an excellent student experience here at Southampton. Many thanks to everyone for their work – and of course to the students who completed the survey.”

Universities and colleges are not given advance sight of the results and our Institutional Research (IR) team will work as quickly as possible to provide you with more details this afternoon* through SUSSED.

Final year students from over 400 UK Universities and colleges took part in the survey which ran from 7 January to 30 April 2019. 70 per cent of our University’s eligible students completed the survey.

The detailed results will be published on the IR Sharepoint site as soon as they are available and staff will be able to log in here.

*Note: The IR Team are still working to provide more details and we will provide an update as soon as we can.
