Following the success of our Open Days this weekend (6 and 7 July), we would like to take the opportunity to thank our University community for their incredible support.
Over 12,000 visitors, including prospective students and their guests, were welcomed to campus by our staff and student ambassadors, with live music from our student bands.
The wonderful weather helped create a positive atmosphere and an alumnus added his own contribution by staging a provocative environmental protest on the roof of the Staff Club on Sunday. Thanks to the security team for ensuring that he returned safely to the ground at the end of the afternoon.

Our President and Vice-Chancellor (interim) Professor Mark Spearing commented:
“Thank you to all of our University community who were part of the planning and delivery of our utterly brilliant Open Days on Saturday and Sunday. Throughout the weekend, our staff and students were incredible, second-to-none ambassadors for our University. You helped, directed. and inspired thousands of prospective Southampton students with your enthusiasm for our University.”
10 years ago, I was a shy 17-year-old visiting @unisouthampton @sotonbiosci for the first time. Today I am a slightly less shy 27-year-old talking to shy 17-year-olds visiting Southampton for the first time. #UoSOpenDay pic.twitter.com/vjvBnuwYYH
