From Sunday 22 September 2019, Unilink is introducing a revised timetable to improve the frequency, reliability and passenger demand of their services.
They will be doubling the number of buses going to the airport, there will now be a U1 every eight minutes and all U1 journeys will now operate to and from the airport, rather than every other bus terminating at Wessex Lane Halls. This change is in response to student feedback requests to have more services to access sports facilities at Wide Lane.
The U2 route will change to improve reliability, address passenger demand and serve the new halls of residence on Bassett Green Road. Following student feedback, all U2 buses will travel directly back to Highfield and the city centre from Glen Eyre/Chamberlain Halls seven days a week.
For anyone trying to get to either of the city’s hospitals or the city centre, the U6 will be operating every 15 minutes during the day Monday – Friday and every 20 minutes at off-peak times from September.
In order to support the increased number of buses, there will be an increase of 20p to all single journey fares. This will be the first fare increase in nine years for single journey tickets.
Staff are able to take advantage of discounted multi-journey tickets, information on the discounts can be found here.
