University prepared for Clearing as A level results released today

A level results are officially released today and a cast of hundreds across our University are working flat out to make Clearing a success.

Spare a thought for our staff and students answering calls to the Hotline; marketing colleagues working on online and offline advertising; iSolutions making sure our telephone and computer systems can support the extra traffic; Institutional Research providing us with data analysis; Admissions office staff and tutors making offers to applicants and Student Recruitment and International Relations preparing our Clearing Open Day.

Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education) says:

“One of the biggest team efforts of the year takes place at the University during Confirmation and Clearing. Everyone in the team works together with the single focus of ensuring we select talented and well-qualified students for a limited number of places.  It’s a process which sets the foundation for the continued success of our University and our students. I want to thank everyone across our University who is helping to make this period a success.”

Our Hotline

Students can apply online from 06:00 on the 15 August and the phone Hotline is open from 08:00. We’re expecting to receive a very high volume of enquiries from prospective students, typically around 10,000 calls over two days.

What to do if you receive a call today

If you receive a call regarding Confirmation, Clearing or Adjustment, please ask the caller to contact the Hotline on 0330 058 6940 or visit southampton.likn.co/clearing where they can apply online very quickly and easily. Please ensure calls are not directed to any other Admissions numbers that you may hold.

If you receive a call on other subjects during this time, please call them back at a later time, if appropriate. This will free some of the incoming lines needed for Clearing calls.

Our courses

The list of our courses available to prospective students in this year’s Clearing period has been available online for the past few weeks and has recently been updated.

Our Open Day

The Clearing Open Day takes place this Saturday 17 August and is open to Clearing and Adjustment 2019 offer holders. It’s their chance to get a feel for student life at Southampton by speaking with staff and students and experiencing our main Campus.
