Celebrating another successful Clearing period

We’re pleased to announce another successful Clearing period, which saw us taking over 11,000 calls and accepting over 600 well-qualified and talented students.

More than 100 students joined us for an Open Day on Saturday 17 August, which gave them an opportunity to look around our campuses, meet academics and obtain advice on a range of issues from courses and funding to accommodation.

Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education), says:

“I’m delighted that this year’s Clearing period has been a success.

“Clearing is one of the biggest team efforts of the year and involves hundreds of our staff and students. I would like to thank everyone who generously volunteered their time, including colleagues from marketing, iSolutions, institutional research, admissions, student recruitment and other services, working alongside academic colleagues and our international recruitment team in Hong Kong.

“While we forecast that our undergraduate intake this year would be below our original plan, UEB had planned for this eventuality. Our focus throughout has remained on quality, as measured by our entry tariff. At University level, we have held our tariff at last year’s level.

“Clearing is a critical process for us, and one which sets the foundation for the continued success of our University and our students.”
