Back in January, we launched an electric vehicle charging pilot on our campuses.
Since then, we’re pleased to report that the 10 charging points have been accessed more than 300 times by almost 40 different users. They have also been used to charge Estates and Facilities’ fleet of electric vehicles.
In total, 3,200 kWh of electricity was used from January to July 2019.
The charging points can be found on our Highfield, Boldrewood, Avenue and Winchester campuses. You can view the locations on this map.
The Highfield Campus charging points are located in a visitor car park, but anyone with a University parking permit displayed can use them.
Colleagues are reminded that low emission vehicles (including electric vehicles) qualify for a lower cost parking permit on our sites.
We will review the full results of this pilot at the end of the year and make a decision about whether to continue or expand the scheme.
Promoting more sustainable means of transport is one of the objectives of the University’s Travel Plan. You can help us plan for the future and make our campuses more sustainable by filling in the latest Travel Plan survey here.
If you have any questions or comments on the pilot you can email [email protected].
