Microsoft will end its support for Windows 7 on 14 January 2020 and iSolutions is working to upgrade University supported Windows 7 devices to Windows 10.
Windows 10 provides functional benefits, such as enhanced integration with Office 365, and a move towards a common and consistent computing platform for all staff and students.
What do I need to do?
If you have a device on Windows 7, please log in as soon as possible. You should receive a desktop alert to prompt you to upgrade to Windows 10.
You will then need to complete this Windows 10 Upgrade Form to request an upgrade.
There may be Windows 7 machines that have software installed which is not compatible with Windows 10. In those instances iSolutions will work closely with colleagues to find an alternative solution where possible.
Once support for Windows 7 has ended, updates and security patches will cease to be provided by Microsoft, and any remaining Windows 7 devices will become a potential security risk. Please note iSolutions will mitigate this risk by restricting access from those machines to the University network.
