As we ready ourselves to welcome over 4,000 new students this weekend, we wanted to give you – our staff community – information that will help you play your part in supporting them when it comes to settling in.
Getting around
As you know, we have large and sprawling campuses and it can sometimes be hard to find your way around! If you see any students who look lost, please do stop and help them to get back on track.
You could also recommend that they download the MySouthampton app which, alongside its email and course timetable features, also has an inbuilt campus map function.

Each year, a team of students is elected to lead our Students’ Union, setting the agenda for the activities that the Students’ Union does over the next academic year. Meet the team.
Welcome events
The University and the Students’ Union run a wide range of events that are open to new and returning students. It’s good for staff to be aware of these events, so they can let students know about them.
Introducing The Hub
Hosted on Blackboard, students and faculty staff can now access The Hub, our new online resource and one-stop-shop to help students make the most of their time studying with us. Find out more about The Hub.
All academic staff, especially Personal Academic Tutors, are invited to help raise awareness of The Hub with their students.
