This semester sees the return of the Advance Programme, delivered by the Careers and Employability Service, to enhance social mobility.
Working with key graduate employers, Advance provides students, from backgrounds under-represented in Higher Education, an opportunity to take part in workshops, a summer school and a fully funded international field trip.
The programme aims to allow students from these backgrounds to explore who they are, their aspirations and potential while growing their understanding of their prospective value to employers.
Last year’s pilot was deemed a huge success by the students and employers who participated in the programme. All previous attendees said they would recommend Advance, with a large number going on to secure graduate roles or internships helped by what they learned on the programme. Furthermore partner employer Enterprise Rent-a-Car described Advance as a good example of best practice in a diversity programme.
The next Advance workshops begin in November and will focus on helping students realise their unique strengths and how to showcase these effectively during the graduate job application process.
To take part in Advance you must be a UK undergraduate student, from a widening participation background and currently enrolled on a programme of study at our University. If you are eligible for Advance you will be sent an email from Careers and Employability.
More information is available on the Advance Programme website or you can email questions to: [email protected].
