OneWeb is kicking off a stream of work to redesign profile pages in a way that showcases research interests, competencies, and impact effectively.
The Team is looking for staff and student volunteers to join one of their upcoming workshops. Participants can expect a research and design-driven, fast-paced two hours of sharing new ways of working and thinking from research and design experts.
Purpose
The purpose of this workshop is to gauge how your University of Southampton profile is working for you and for others who interact with it. We’ll identify what aspects of the current profile design serve you well, what aspects may introduce friction into your workflow, and opportunities to better meet needs. The ideas we generate will inform an initial design and prototype of the new profile page.
Why it’s important
Over the past few months, OneWeb has been investigating how to surface research in a way that serves its diverse users. In the summer, we analysed search intent and interviewed some of you to understand your needs. We also interviewed some of the people who fund, promote, evaluate, and apply your research to understand their needs.
Synthesising these needs, we identified a list of initiatives to improve how research content is surfaced digitally. We considered which would address the needs of most users in the near-term and the answer was clear: the most pressing and prevalent needs pointed at profile pages.
