Events organised as part of Black History Month are continuing into November and you can find details on the Black History Month website.
The University has copies of the official Black History Month Magazine to give away, which this year focuses on recognising women of achievement.
Copies of the magazine are available to collect from HR in B26 on Highfield Campus, or you can contact the Diversity team to have a copy sent to you via internal mail or read the edition online.
As a signatory to the Race Equality Charter (REC), our University is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for everyone, including Black and minority ethnic staff and students. The REC self-assessment team has begun its work to identify how we can further progress equality and inclusion for BAME staff and students, and would welcome contributions from staff and student volunteers. Please contact the Diversity team if you’d like to be involved, either as part of the REC team or through upcoming consultation events.
BAME staff are also reminded that they can join the Shine BAME Staff Network. The Network is a key stakeholder to the University’s policy development framework and aims to raise awareness of and promote race equality and cultural diversity at the University. All Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff and postgraduate research students are welcome.
