SETsquared is on top of the world for third time

It’s official. SETsquared has once again been ranked as the Global No 1 University Business Incubator.

The news comes overnight from the World Incubation Summit in Doha and marks the third time the enterprise partnership, in which our University is a key member, has been ranked in the top spot by UBI Global, having maintained this world-leading position since 2015.

The unique SETsquared partnership between the universities of Southampton, Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Surrey supports technology-based businesses throughout their lifecycle – from idea through to investment and scale-up – and develops entrepreneurial thinking for students, academics and businesses.

In the last year alone, 52 students, academics and entrepreneurs in Southampton have participated in SETsquared programmes, with supported companies raising £42.8 million in investment between them.

Overall, SETsquared has supported over 4,000 UK high-tech start-ups since its inception, helping them raise more than £1.8bn of investment and creating £8.6 billion of economic impact to date – a figure which is set to rise to nearly £27 billion by 2030.

David Bream, programme director at SETsquared Southampton, said:

“This ranking is a true reflection of everyone at SETsquared’s passion and commitment to helping innovative UK businesses thrive, whatever stage of their development they’re at. In Southampton, as is the case at the other partner universities, we work round the clock to ensure our companies get the support they need when they need it – and last night that hard work paid off.”
