The University has appointed Richard Middleton as interim Chief Operating Officer to succeed Ian Dunn, who is leaving the University at the end of December.
Richard, who joins on 6 January for a period of 6-9 months, has extensive experience as an interim COO, Registrar and Change Project Manager in Higher Education, including leadership experience at the Universities of Derby, Wolverhampton, Plymouth, Middlesex, Leeds, Bedfordshire, City, Kingston and Aston.
All of Ian Dunn’s current direct reports will report to Richard, with the exception of Sarah Pook, our Executive Director Finance and Planning, who will from January report directly to the Vice-Chancellor to ensure continuity through the year on business planning. She will continue to attend PSL meetings.
The appointment was made by Council following a recommendation from an appointment panel comprising members of Council, Senate and the University Executive.
