We’re looking forward to seeing you and your children at our Family Christmas on Campus event today, Monday 9 December.
Everyone who has registered for today’s event will have received e-mail instructions and you’ll also find here all of the information you need ahead of the event:
Schedule:
- Silly Scott, our children’s entertainer, will be performing in the Terrace Restaurant in Building 38 between 16:15 – 16:45 and 17:15 – 17:45.
- Face painting will be available between 16:00 – 18:00 in the Arlott Bar in Building 38 and The Bridge in Building 42.
- Santa’s Grotto will be open between 16:00 – 18:00 in The Bridge.
- A Magic Mirror photo booth on the concourse in B42.
- Christmas Market stalls on the Redbrick between 16:00 – 18:00.
- University of Southampton Brass Band from 16:00-16:45 and the University of Southampton Chamber Choir 17:00-17:45 will be performing on the Redbrick.
- The fireworks display will take place between 17:50-18:00 and you can view the display from inside Building 38, or outside by the Nuffield Theatre.
What refreshments will be on offer?
- Check in at one of our registration points to receive a token for a tea, coffee or hot chocolate from 16:00 on the concourse of B42 or in the Staff Social Club. Juice and a gingerbread man are available for children.
- Drinks and snacks are limited to one per registration, and gingerbread men are for children only. If any of your guests have specific dietary requirements, please inform the Events team.
- The Arlott and The Bridge will also be open until 18:00 operating as a cash bar.
Safety:
- Wristbands for children will be available at both registration points for parents to provide emergency contact information.
- Anyone under 16 must be accompanied to the event by a responsible adult.
Photography and Filming:
Please note that photographs and video footage will be captured during the event and may be used in University publications, on our website or on social media. Individuals in small group shots will be approached for consent.

Parking:
- All parking restrictions on Highfield Campus will be lifted at 15:30, guests will be able to park in any vacant parking bay (unless designated for a specific purpose), including ‘Pay and Display’ areas.

Don’t forget:
- Your University staff/student ID or an electronic copy of your ticket.
- Cash to spend for further drinks in the Arlott or the Bridge (until 18:00) and at the Christmas Market stalls (until 18:00).
- Warm clothing and sensible footwear if you are planning to watch the fireworks outdoors.
