Our 2019 Winter Graduation ceremonies start today (10 December) with the installation of our new Chancellor, Ruby Wax during Ceremony 2 at 12 noon in the Turner Sims Concert Hall. This will also be the first opportunity for our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark E. Smith, to preside at a Southampton ceremony.

As Chancellor, Ruby will serve as the leading ambassador for the University through activities linked to our strategy. In addition to presiding over graduation ceremonies, Ruby will plan an active role in other aspects of our development.
Best known for her extensive comedy and documentary work on television, Ruby is a major advocate for mental health bringing issues to the foreground through Parliament and other fora.
Graduands on day one are from Arts and Humanities, including the Winchester School of Art, and Environmental and Life Sciences, over four ceremonies. On day two, we continue to honour graduands from Arts and Humanities joined by Engineering and Physical Sciences and Social Sciences, also over four ceremonies. On Friday, we welcome graduands from Environmental and Life Sciences and Medicine, across three ceremonies.
