We Love Data and We’d Love to See It

There are prizes to be won for staff and students who take part in a Data Visualisation Display in the University’s libraries during Love Data Week (10-14 February 2020) showcasing our community’s talents and exploring reproducibility.

Participants can take part by creating visual representations of the data showing the numbers of people coming into the Hartley Library. We have five variations of entry data for Hartley Library from the 2018/19 academic year.  The Hartley Library is the oldest existing building on Highfield Campus and 2018/2019 marked the 100th year the University used the building.

You can display the data any way you like (knitting, crochet, 3D modelling, anything physical or digital that isn’t a spreadsheet) – you don’t need to be experienced in data visualisation to take part. If you would like some inspiration, have a look at these temperature blankets or this baby sleep pattern blanket.

Submissions will be displayed at all the library sites (Avenue, Hartley, Health Sciences, National Oceanography Library and Winchester School of Art) during Love Data Week with prizes available for the three entries that most catch the judges’ eyes

Closing date is Friday 24 January 2020, so you have plenty of time to get creative.

Full details, entry forms and all the data are available here.
