The appraisal window for all level 4-6 staff opened from 1 January 2020 and runs until 31 May 2020. It is recommended that level 4-6 appraisal meetings are set in the diary now, to allow both the appraiser and appraisee time to prepare in advance. Quality face-to-face appraisal conversations help to maximise contribution and potential by:
- reviewing contribution in the year up to 31 December 2019, and
- considering your personal development and career aspirations
- agreeing objectives for 2020.
Training for Appraisees
Enhanced eLearning for Appraisees is available via Blackboard to help everyone prepare for their appraisal conversations.
Training for Appraisers
Appraisal training is mandatory for new appraisers and those who have not previously completed training with the University. The training was revisited in 2019 and the enhanced ‘Appraising with Confidence’ workshop has a range of dates available for appraisers to book via Staffbook. This practical workshop supports all aspects of appraisal; from how to prepare, holding meaningful two-way conversations and providing impactful feedback.
Enhanced eLearning for Appraisers is on Blackboard, to help appraisers prepare and carry out their key responsibilities can be completed as a refresher and also forms the pre-course work for the Appraising with Confidence workshop.
Recording Appraisals
The appraisal discussion should be recorded in the online appraisal form in MyHR Dashboard.
Exactly the same as in previous years, level 4-6 appraisees will have two forms:
- one form dated 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, to record contribution against last year’s objectives, and
- one form dated 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020, to record agreed objectives for the year ahead.
