Coronavirus: update 24 January 2020

Colleagues and students will be aware of national media reporting about an outbreak of a new strain of respiratory virus, known as Coronavirus, which has spread within several Chinese provinces, the US, Thailand and South Korea.

As an international university we have staff and students travelling across the world.

Below, we’ve provided some simple advice around observing good hygiene practices, which can help avoid the spread of viral infections.

Our advice:

  • Wash hands after going to the toilet and thoroughly before preparing or eating food.
  • It’s also good practice to wash your hands after using doors and handrails in commonly used public areas.
  • If you need to cough or sneeze then do so into a tissue and then dispose of the tissue.
  • If you have flu symptoms or are concerned about your health you should seek advice from your professional healthcare provider.
