Whether it’s launching a vegan cafe, reducing the cost of printing or launching welfare training, becoming one of the Students’ Union Officers can have a fantastic impact to student life at Southampton. If you’ve got great ideas of how to lead the Union and represent students, then run for a role in the Spring Elections! There are five paid Sabbatical Officer roles available to run for in addition to many voluntary roles.
If you’re keen to represent one of the biggest Students’ Unions in the country and improve a specific area of student life, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Thorough professional training will be supplied, so don’t worry if you don’t have much experience!

VP Education and Democracy
• Represent students’ academic interests
• Ensure students have a voice in the University
• Lead on Union Democracy
VP Activities
• Representing club and society interests
• Supporting all affiliated Societies
• Improving the student experience
VP Sports
• Leading the Athletic Union
• Developing sporting performance
• Encouraging participation in sport
VP Welfare and Community
• Lead on student welfare
• Lead on equality and diversity within the Union
• Lead on Welfare and Community campaigns
There is also a chance to run for a number of voluntary positions. These include our Student Officers, Student Trustees, WSA Committee and Student Leaders. These positions are part-time so you will need to be a student in 2020-21 in order to run for them.
