The UK Government has provided updated travel advice for individuals returning to the UK, with additional countries and areas now requiring you to self-isolate upon your return if you develop symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
Students and staff planning to travel abroad during the Easter vacation period (21 March 2020 – 19 April 2020): please familiarise yourselves with the latest travel guidance, as you may need to self-isolate upon your return to the UK if you develop symptoms.
Prevention remains the best form of protection against the spread of viruses. Reduce your risk of infection by:
- Frequently cleaning your hands with soap and water, or by using alcohol-based hand sanitiser if washing facilities are unavailable;
- Covering your mouth and nose with a mask or tissue when coughing and sneezing – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands;
- Avoiding close contact with anyone who has a fever and a cough;
- Seeking medical care early and sharing previous travel history with your health care provider If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing;
- Ensuring that you are registered with a local NHS general practitioner (GP).
