Placement opportunities for under-represented technical staff

Technical staff from under-represented and minority groups at our University now have the opportunity to apply for placements where they can shadow colleagues in leadership positions to help their career development.

The opportunity is part of the Changemaker programme, run by Nottingham University, which we’ve signed up to. The scheme offers up to thirty placements, each of 1-5 days in length (flexible).

The programme is fully funded by EPSRC and aims to create opportunities for all minority groups highlighted in the Equality Act 2010 and we would encourage all qualifying colleagues to consider applying.

The scheme applies both to technical staff here, who might want to do a placement elsewhere, as well as technical staff at other universities who might want to do a placement here.

Seeking host teams/departments to support external technical staff

We are also looking for teams that would be willing to host technicians for 1-5 days placements (as described in the programme below) to help them learn new skills, network and share best practice.

If you have any queries in relations to the programme, either as a participant or a host, please email: Sanja Barkovic, Teaching Laboratory Technical Manager or telephone her on ext. 22090.

Applicants – The deadline for applications is 13 March, so speak with your line manager and start the application process.

Line managers – If you would be willing to host technical staff in your department or school, please contact Sanja.
