Staff from across our University have helped supply, gather, collect, move and catalogue stocks of personal protective equipment (PPE) following a request from Southampton City NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Working together with Health, Safety & Risk and Security, colleagues from the Faculties of Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Physical Sciences and Environmental and Life Sciences gathered over:
- 65,400 gloves
- 7,400 masks
- 6,200 overshoes
- 365 coveralls
- 200 pairs of safety glasses
- 25 gowns
Plus aprons.
The PPE will be distributed to local Primary Care services, care homes and domiciliary support services.
“This was a very good and fast effort by all concerned so a big thanks to the Deans and their teams,” said Cathy Day. “I also want to thank all the members of my team, who put in a tremendous effort to quickly and efficiently manage quite a complex operation, with my colleague Dr Neil Lloyd deserving a great deal of the credit.”
