Danielle Lambrick, Senior Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences, is part of an international collaborative research project exploring the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions on people’s physical activity and wellbeing at different stages of the government’s strategy. The UK arm of the project is a collaboration between six UK institutions (University of Southampton, University of Winchester – lead, University of Portsmouth, University of Gloucestershire, Swansea University, and Oxford Brookes University).
UK residents, over the age of 18, are being asked to complete a short online survey which is currently being widely distributed throughout the UK, primarily via social media. Global surveys are also being distributed throughout New Zealand, Australia and Ireland so that comparisons may be made between countries in relation to their respective government responses to COVID-19. These global surveys have had over 8,000 respondents so far.
The research team hope that survey responses will inform and help us, as a country, to be better prepared to support people in achieving and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing if or when we encounter similar circumstances in the future.
