The Work Futures Research Group at the University of Southampton is pleased to host a virtual event via MS Teams on Wednesday 20 May 2020 at 15:00-16:30 BST:
‘Careers, Coronavirus and potential consequences’
Michael Arthur, Emeritus Professor at Suffolk University, Boston and Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management, UK
Subject and speaker
We are living through a major global catastrophe. It is a catastrophe that few people, including few commentators on work and organization, have ever anticipated. It is one where many people’s carefully constructed strategies for protecting or expanding their turf got swept away. Technological changes that may have taken years to introduce, are settling in to stay. A look at the world of work through the lens of the career concept raises new questions and fresh possibilities.
Michael B. Arthur is Emeritus Professor at Suffolk University, Boston and Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management, UK. He has written widely on contemporary careers for both scholars and career owners. He is a co-author of the book An Intelligent Career: Taking Ownership of Your Work and Your Life (Oxford University Press, 2017/8) and a regular contributor on career ownership at www.forbes.com.
