Electronic and Computer Science (ECS) are running events to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).
IDAHOBIT, which takes place annually on 17 May, is a worldwide celebration of sexual and gender diversities. This year’s theme is ‘Breaking the Silence’ and COVID-19 isn’t stopping the celebrations. Like many other anniversaries and days of action, this year’s celebrations will be carried out online.
ECS has celebrated IDAHOBIT since 2018. Last year the team was nominated for a Vice-Chancellor’s award for their engagement in support of the LGBT+ community. IDAHOBIT means a lot to staff and students in ECS. This year they have been running virtual events including a Movie Club, Quiz and Art Workshop.
