Your wellbeing: Mental Health Awareness Week – share your stories about kindness

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (18-24 May) is kindness. In these uncertain times, we’re inviting staff to share stories about an act of kindness they’ve witnessed recently.

Kindness can increase feelings of wellbeing in others, but also evidence has shown it can benefit our own mental health. ‘Give’ is one of the 5 NHS ways to Wellbeing.

Share an act of kindness with us

Do you know a colleague or a friend who’s supported you whilst working from home, raised money for a charity or helped neighbours out? It could be someone who just takes time to say a friendly socially-distanced ‘hello’ to a passer-by. It doesn’t need to be something big, something small can make a real difference too, as we have seen with ‘clap for carers’.

Please send us stories of acts of kindness in the form of an email, a picture, a photo, a poem, video or a podcast to [email protected] by 17:00 Friday 29 May. We’ll share as many of your stories as possible in the June edition of Staff Matters.

For staff interested in volunteering, the Mental Health Foundation has produced this guide.

The Health and Wellbeing team provide a range of advice for staff, including team resilience, guidance for vulnerable adults, setting up your home workstation and maintaining positive wellbeing whilst working from home.
